A day in #Milan

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hello, lovelies!

I know that you’ve been waiting for this article. It took some time to gather all this memories and to put them together in their best version. In this article I want to show you what you can do in this fashionable city in only one day – what to visit, when to visit, where to eat and where to go out after the sunset.

Even if it may look like there are a lot of places to visit in Milan, actually all you need is a full day and some comfy shoes to see all the important spots around the city, those places you can’t skip.

1. Have breakfast at Piazza del Duomo

The view is absolutely stunning and there are some restaurants where you will have both the view and the amazing food. Try the italian breakfast with cappuccino and juice.

2. Duomo di Milano

After a delicious breakfast, walk around the area. Visit the interior of the cathedral. You will love the atmosphere and the architectural details. Once you’re inside you will start to feel so small next to everything that surrounds you.

We have arrived there during a manifestations for women’s rights on 8th of March and we were impressed to see a huge piece of white material where people were invited to write or draw a message, a symbol of love. I have mastered my skills and left a simple message – #LOVE – a single word which can create a better world if truly felt by everybody.

The atmosphere was a bit overwhelming, so many people putting a little part of their soul on the ground in a multitude of colors and shapes.

Suddenly, some guys came and put some seeds in my hand and a bunch of pigeons started to eat from my hand and friendly took a sit on my arm. Lovely!

3. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Right next to the Duomo, you’ll find the popular gallery Vittorio Emanuele with all its famous fashion boutiques, restaurants and cafes. First stop was at the Savini Gellateria. I couldn’t enjoy the views without a genuine italian gelato.

Beside the amazing architectural details, the colors and the vibe, this belle époque splendor, extravagant 19th-century glass-topped, barrel-vaulted tunnel also invites you to make a wish. Did you know that? What you have to do is to find the bull in middle on the floor, spin three times and make a wish!

4. A walk to the Sforza Castle

It takes less than 15 minute from Piazza del Duomo to arrive at the Sforza Castle. It is an architectural beauty right in the middle of the city.  It was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remains of a 14th-century fortification. Later renovated and enlarged, in the 16th and 17th centuries it was one of the largest citadels in Europe.

Now, the Castello complex includes some museums:

  • The Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco, with an art collection which includes Andrea Mantegna’s Trivulzio Madonna and masterpieces by Canaletto, Tiepolo, Vincenzo Foppa, Titian and Tintoretto.
  • The Museum of Ancient Art which includes the armory, the tapestry room and some funerary monuments.
  • The Museum of Musical Instruments.
  • The Egyptian Museum.
  • The Prehistoric collections of the Archaeological Museum of Milan.
  • The Applied Arts Collection.
  • The Antique Furniture & Wooden Sculpture Museum.
  • The Achille Bertarelli Print Collection.
  • The Museum of Rondanini Pietà which includes Michelangelo’s last sculpture (the Rondanini Pietà)

5. Porta Sempione

Porta Sempione or the Arch of Peace is a triumphal arch, initially built in the early nineteenth century as part of the ‘Foro Bonaparte’ – a modern version of a Roman Forum – to celebrate Napoleon’s victories.

6. Back to Piazza del Duomo

This is the best place to see the sunset while exploring the Duomo’s Terraces. The view of the city is absolutely breathtaking! The painting created by the spires embracing the Cathedral’s terraces is irresistibly alluring. From this extraordinary point, visitors can abandon themselves to the Duomo’s beauty and contemplate the city from its most emblematic location.

7. End your day with a glass of wine at one of the famous #rooftops

There’s no better way to end up a productive day than having a proper dinner with a unique view. My top 3 rooftops in Milan are:

Duomo 21

Terrazza Aperol

La Rinascente

All of them are absolutely amazing, the food and  the drinks are great and the atmosphere… Not only you have a delicious dinner with a priceless view, but there are also parties so that you can also practice your dancing skills.

These are my top recommendations for a day in Milan, just perfect to enjoy a memorable day with your best friends. Also, you’ll need a full day for #shopping! So many shops, so many brands, so many amazing clothes and accessories. It seems like heaven for a veritable fashionista.

The city has an amazing energy, friendly people wherever you go, delicious food and sweets.. couldn’t wish for more! Business and pleasure all together seems to be the perfect combination for me.

Have a bissful weekend, lovelies!
